Aloe maculata, sometimes referred to as Aloe saponaria have inflorescence up to 3 feet high with flowers of red, yellow or orange. This soap Aloe is so named because its internal liquid can be agitated and turned into a cleansing soap product. Endemic to Southeast South Africa where rain and moisture help it thrive. The Presidio Park specimen thrives well on its westerly slope where it receives both adequate sunlight, and moisture from foggy mornings.
