Adding to the significance of the endangered California Theatre is the iconic 1960s Caliente Racetrack advertising sign painted on its rear wall. Also endangered, it was nearly painted over with a beer advertisement recently when its individual significance in the history of the San Diego and Tijuana Region failed to be considered.
