Caprifoliaceae family Sub-tropical SE Asia and sub-tropical Mexico

This genus contains up to 30 different species generally believed to be within the honeysuckle family. There is some disagreement as to its proper genera. The Presidio species is likely Abelia x grandiflora raised by hybridizing Abelia chinensis with Abelia uniflora and is deciduous. First raised in 1886 at the Rovelli nursery at Pallanza on Lake Maggiore in Italy, it is an ornamental.
