George Marston's Second Store
On August 8, 1878, 27-year-old George W. Marston opened his first store at the northwest corner of Fifth and D Streets, the building was occupied for only a couple of months. In October of that same year, the business was moved to the west side of Fifth Street, between G and H, a more central location. After only three years, sales were so good that expansion became necessary.
