Paradise Point Tours a Sold-Out Success
November/December 2025

Guide David Marshall highlights design details of the registration building and lobby, originally Jack’s Steak House, where guests once dined on sizzling steaks and fresh local seafood.

SOHO’s recent tours of Paradise Point, originally named Vacation Village, were a sold-out triumph, with both tours fully booked and brimming with enthusiasm. Guests enjoyed perfect weather as they explored this remarkable 1960s resort, guided by our expert volunteers.

Our gracious hosts at Paradise Point made the day even more special by providing fresh cookies and cold drinks. Many attendees capped off the experience with lunch at the resort’s beloved Barefoot Bar, giving the full day “two thumbs up.”

The specially prepared SOHO tour booklets proved so popular that even hotel guests who happened upon the tour asked to purchase copies—and did! Booklets are still available for purchase at the Marston House Museum Shop or online at SOHO’s Shopify store.

And the tours were so well received that Paradise Point management has invited us back. While nothing is confirmed yet, we are considering another round of tours, possibly in spring 2026. In the meantime, you can add your name to the waitlist if you'd like to be the first to know when tickets become available.

Left Guide Martin Lindsay shares historic photos with tourgoers during the walk. Middle Tourgoers ascend the 81 steps to the top of the resort’s most iconic structure, the observation tower. Conceived as a counterpoint to the resort’s otherwise low-profile design, the tower added a dramatic vertical element to a landscape defined by water, sand, and wide-open skies. Right Next stop—the Barefoot Bar—where many tourgoers capped off their experience with a delicious lunch. Built in 1962 as part of the original Vacation Village resort, the bar was designed close to the ground and nestled into a large berm. All photos by Dean Glass

SOHO extends our deepest thanks to our volunteer guides, Martin Lindsay and David Marshall, with assistance from SOHO board member Jennifer Macdonald and staff member Dean Glass; to Paradise Point management; and to everyone who attended for making these tours such a memorable success.
