AIA San Diego Turns 95
November/December 2023

The San Diego chapter of the American Institute of Architects began life as the Architects’ Association with Irving J. Gill, Richard Requa, William Wheeler, and others as members. They were creating outstanding, still-admired architecture in a city with a population of less than 150,000. Ninety-five years later, AIASD is an advocate and agent for design excellence, sustainability, historic preservation, diversity, and professional standards, to name a few of its priorities. Its membership continues to include nationally known architects and recent graduates alike.
