SOHO Partnering with Art Pharmacy for Innovative Healing
at Historic Places

SOHO is pleased to announce we’ve joined the innovative Art Pharmacy Arts & Culture Partners network, which addresses mental health and loneliness. This collaboration marks another meaningful step in our longstanding belief that our cherished cultural places, historic sites, parks, and house museums serve as vital balms for mind, body, and spirit. They offer individuals and communities the soothing, often profound sense of place and well-being we all so deeply need.
For generations now, SOHO has viewed our historic sites not just as rigid monuments of the past, but as healing spaces and places that anchor identity, inspire reflection, and foster social connection. Art Pharmacy offers proactive “prescriptions” that directly connect individuals to arts, cultural, and historic sites to foster personal healing and transformation. This approach aligns perfectly with SOHO’s philosophy of healing through the strong sense of place historic homes and other historic places embody.
With SOHO now an Art Pharmacy cultural partner, the Marston House Museum & Gardens and the Warner-Carrillo Ranch House Museum are part of this nationally growing effort to improve mental and physical wellness. Activities range from museum visits and walking tours to taking in the visual arts, storytelling, and more. These experiences are meant not only for enrichment, but also as a preventive and therapeutic resource for loneliness and mental health challenges.
By partnering with Art Pharmacy, we help make these uplifting and culturally rich experiences even more accessible, emphasizing opportunities that promote health and well-being.
Art Pharmacy serves individuals aged 12 and older, particularly older adults (55+) facing loneliness or isolation, and young people (12–26) dealing with stress, anxiety, or depression. Upon referral by a healthcare provider, participants connect with a Care Navigator who recommends tailored arts experiences, including those at historic sites, all at no cost to them.
SOHO is happy to contribute our vibrant historic spaces to this powerful “prescription system,” and to reaffirm our belief that the arts and heritage are pathways to health, connection, and community. We can’t wait to welcome Art Pharmacy participants to experience the solace, inspiration, and sense of place that our historic homes offer—one with a shady lawn and rose garden, the other with vast untamed open space—for them and every visitor.
