Postcard Campaign Gains Momentum—Let’s Keep It Going!
July/August 2025
 |
Our citywide postcard campaign is off to a strong start. In recent weeks, dozens of SOHO members, volunteers, and community preservationists have taken stacks of postcards to distribute and mail to San Diego City Councilmembers. Each one helps amplify our collective voice and sends a clear message: San Diegans care deeply about protecting our historic neighborhoods, buildings, and protective preservation laws.
Over 3,000 have been mailed so far, with another 5,000 in the queue and waiting! We need more volunteers, more postcards sent, and a broader group of community members engaged in every council district across the city.
More postcard sets are ready. Everyone is asked to sign and mail all four with each of the four designs advocating for a key issue in this historic preservation campaign, such as protecting the Mills Act and preserving city's historic districts.
We've restocked! If you’ve already helped, thank you! And if you're ready to do more, we invite you to stop by the Marston House Museum Shop (open Friday through Sunday, 10am–4pm, 3525 Seventh Avenue, San Diego 92103) to:
- Pick up bundles of postcards for yourself, your family, or to distribute in your neighborhood to friends, neighbors, or at community events
- Sign your own four postcards on-site; we’ll mail them for you!
- Organize write-in gatherings, make it a house party or take it outside!
- Help us cover postage by donating stamps
There’s no limit to your impact, even if you've already sent your four cards. Every household member can sign their own set. The volume of voices is what moves the needle at City Hall.
Too many of our councilmembers remain oblivious to just how much their constituents care about our historic communities. This campaign is making sure they see it—and know it—in undeniable numbers their staffs are recording.
Too much is at stake to slow down now! The more postcards we send, the louder our message.
This campaign is a vital part of a larger, coordinated strategy organized by SOHO and energized preservation coalitions. With your continued help, we can ensure that San Diego’s historic places remain protected for generations to come. Thank you!
