Eva Luise-Juliane Thorn
Eva Thorn is an architect specializing in the preservation and adaptive reuse of historic and vernacular architecture. As principal of Union Architecture, a certified Small Local Business Enterprise with the City of San Diego, she oversees all aspects of the firm’s preservation and reuse projects, emphasizing sensitive design and cultural context.
Originally from Germany, Eva holds a master of architecture from the University of Kaiserslautern and a bachelor of architecture from the Technische Fachhochschule Berlin. Her European architectural training informs her thoughtful approach to historic resources and the everyday built environment.
Since founding Union Architecture, Eva and her husband and professional partner, architect John Eisenhart, have played a meaningful role in advancing preservation throughout San Diego. Their firm’s portfolio includes a wide range of restoration and adaptive reuse work, reflecting their commitment to sustainable stewardship of the region’s architectural heritage.
A SOHO member since 2005, Eva brings deep technical expertise, design sensitivity, and a collaborative, steady leadership style to her preservation work and community service.
