The 2005 Craftsman-Spanish Revival Weekend

By Allen Hazard, CSR Co-Chairman

It's not too early to mark your calendars for one of SOHO's major events of the year, the always highly anticipated and successful "Craftsman-Spanish Revival Weekend". The dates are March 11-13.

The City of Coronado has been chosen for the 2005 weekend. Coronado has recently enacted a historic ordinance that will help to protect the city's wonderful architectural heritage. The theme of the weekend will be "Some Like it Preserved," a word play on the popular 1959 movie "Some Like it Hot," filmed at the Hotel Del Coronado.

This past March, SOHO added the Spanish Revival lectures and homes to the already successful Craftsman Weekend and it proved to be a major hit! Everyone seemed to enjoy the Spanish touch to the always successful vendors, historic home tour and lectures (Requa authority Parker Jackson's walking tour and lectures were both big hits!)

The 2005 CSR Weekend promises to be even better. Exciting lecturers will be heard, Craftsman-Spanish Revival antiques and reproductions will be sold during the weekend, and the always-popular Sunday historic home tour is sure to be a crowd pleaser! There will also be several special events which are currently being planned.

Please check the SOHO website beginning in January for CSR updates and registration information. The 2005 CSR Committee meets monthly and if you would like to join this committee, please call Allen Hazard at (619) 574-6247 or email SOHO. We are also starting our volunteer sign up, so please call or email SOHO if you would like to be a docent at a great Coronado home or help out over this special weekend.

The 2005 CSR Committee is planning what we hope will be the most exhilarating, thoughtful and informative CSR Weekend yet!

You won't want to miss this weekend, so mark your calendar now!
