Volunteer Appreciation Party

Our Volunteer Appreciation Day Picnic was held on Sunday, July 29th on the grounds of the Historic 1895 Irving Gill in National City.

The weather was perfect for our honored guests and picnic tables covered with brightly colored tablecloths set the festive tone for the day.

Hamburgers and hot dogs were prepared to order by our hostess Lori Peoples and her trusty assistant Jake Marlow at the grill. Homemade potato and macaroni salad, baked beans, and a vegetable tray featuring tomatoes grown at the Stein Farm Living History Museum in National City. Dessert of cake, fresh strawberry and apple pie completed this summer picnic. All in attendance enjoyed the food and company.

SOHO Executive Director Bruce Coons gathered everyone in front of the house and gave a brief speech stressing the important role of the Volunteers, acknowledging and thanking them for their many committed hours attributing their work to the success and strength of SOHO.

Upon conclusion, Bruce and hostess/boardmember, Lori Peoples, gave a brief history of the remarkable features of the D.K. Horton home. Lori then graciously opened her home and guests were able to tour the downstairs.

Special thanks for a wonderful day to the Volunteer Appreciation Day Committee: Christine Babcock, Sarai Marlow, Jessica McGee, Lori Peoples, Sandé Lollis, and Alana Coons.
