SOHO Assumes the Whaley House November 21

Etching of the Whaley House

Well, it's finally happening. The County of San Diego has given us the move in date and we are very excited to be able to move forward. Because of the court decisions still to be determined regarding the contents of the property, SOHO will not be making any interpretive or decorative changes until which time the court resolves the case. However, there is still much to do and this is a plea and a call to volunteers. The Whaley House will need to be manned immediately beginning the 21st of November and we desperately need docents. Training will be given and this is an exciting opportunity to get involved with SOHO on a more personal level. We need your help right now to get the ball rolling with this museum complex. SOHO has great plans and goals for the property and we want your ideas and input from the get go. We have a Whaley House Steering committee, which has been meeting monthly to lay out the initial groundwork. At this time the idea is to create a Friends of the Whaley House Advisory Board to continue this work. Please call (619) 297-9327 now and one of our volunteer coordinators will contact you.
