Preservation Leadership

Beth Montes does a masterful job of running and managing a passionate and opinionated board, and that is no easy task. She brings calmness, professionalism and cohesiveness to it, and she really knows how to use a gavel! Her leadership skills include her tremendous support of staff. And what sets her apart from so many is in her willingness to take the kind of risks that have been necessary to allow SOHO to grow. She has cultivated a unique environment that has built SOHO into one of San Diego's leading institutions, and one of the most successful preservation organizations in the nation. We all respect and love her very much and we appreciate deeply the opportunity to honor Beth Montes with the Preservation Leadership, "Leader of the Pack" award.
