The Women's Rights Movement &
Its Effect on Fashion
A conversation led by Ingrid Helton, San Diego Opera Costume Shop Manager; other panelists to be announced.
From corsets and crinolines to bloomers and bandanas, fashions tend to reflect the social status of women and their increasingly freer movements and diverse work outside the home. Marching suffragettes wore white for purity, a tradition today's female political leaders purposely echo. Join the discussion about how fashion and symbols have changed as women have mobilized to secure equal rights for more than a century.
