If you are purchasing your ticket on the day of the tour you must purchase it at the Old House Fair Ticket Booth at 30th and Beech Steets in South Park. You will receive a free booklet with complete maps and historical information, as well as shoe covers and a ticket for admission to 5 houses and the trolley shuttle.
The Historic Home Tour of the 18th annual Old House Fair features four residences built 100 years ago, and a fifth built in 1929. These are representative of the eclectic architectural styles found in South Park, one of San Diego's most pedestrian-friendly neighborhoods, first developed in the opening decade of the 20th century. The homes include a Craftsman with Japanese design details, a Vernacular Prairie style, a Spanish eclectic craftsman, a Mission style, and a 100-year-old home that incorporates today's green energy and environmental improvements.
Along with all this, tourgoers may browse through the Old House Fair street festival, with exhibit booths of craftsmen, builders and services geared to the restoration, repair and revival of older homes. The popular Ask the SOHO Experts booth will be open throughout the day. Artists and vintage vendors, food booths and live musical entertainment are included as well, from 10am to 4pm.
Three of the Historic Home Tour homes are within 2 blocks walking distance of the main festival intersection and ticket booth at 30th & Beech St. The shuttle trolley circulates throughout the day, stopping at each of the homes for your convenience. The homes may be visited in any order, and you may combine walking and the shuttle transportation to see each home.
