Mission Hills Historic Walking Tour

This tour will focus on the early architects of Mission Hills subdivisions of Arnold & Choates and North Florence Heights. The tour will include the 1912 West Lewis Street mixed-use commercial district, an early Mission Revival church by William E. Gibb, a modern 1921 church by Louis Gill, a progressive school by William Templeton Johnson and the 1935 former Neuner Brothers Ford Dealership Art Deco building. Also featured will be Prairie Row, one of the most intact and largest collections of Prairie style homes in San Diego as well as Mead & Requa Corner, a hidden intersection of 1912 homes by this talented firm. Tour goers will learn about the architecturally diverse and significant homes of Mission Hills as well as the fascinating people who lived in them.
