Warner-Carrillo Ranch House Needs Volunteer Docents
November 2016
By Ellen Green

Imagine being transported back into the adventurous days of stagecoaches and westward migration, when hopeful pioneers from the east made their way to California seeking new opportunities in this untamed land. Imagine having the opportunity to tell their stories and share with visitors the excitement of this time when the American West was on the move.

There is a place where you can do just that: Warner-Carrillo Ranch House in Warner Springs. This beautifully restored 1857 adobe once served as a stagecoach stop on the Butterfield Overland Stage Route, California's first regular overland stage connection with St. Louis. It tells the story of the Emigrant Trail, the overland stage, the area's ranching history, and the fascinating people who were part of it. You'll be a vital part of bringing this history to life as a volunteer docent with SOHO.

Before you start, you'll receive on-the-job training so that you can welcome visitors, answer questions, and conduct tours. The museum's regular hours are 12-4pm on Saturdays and Sundays.

Volunteers are essential to SOHO's stewardship of this and our other historic sites and museums, and we're very grateful to all our docents. If you're interested in joining their ranks at Warner-Carrillo Ranch House, please go to our Volunteer with SOHO page and click on Docent Application Form. Thank you!
