Deep into that darkness peering, long I stood there, wondering, fearing,
doubting, dreaming dreams no mortal ever dared to dream before. - The Raven

Santa Ysabel Store promotional image Set the mood for Halloween and celebrate America's master of the macabre at the haunted Whaley House historic theater for two riveting performances of A Dream Within a Dream: The Spectre of Edgar Allen Poe on October 15 at 6pm and 8pm. Award-winning actor Travis Rhett Wilson will portray the iconic poet and storyteller's tragic biography, reciting and drawing on Poe's spookiest poetry, fiction, letters and journals. Assuming the eerie demeanor of his subject, Wilson will deliver tales of madness, including "The Raven" and "The Tell-Tale Heart," and he'll recite Poe's hauntingly melancholic poem, "Annabel Lee."

A Dream Within A Dream will transport you back to a Poe-era Halloween in the mid 19th-century in the perfect setting: the intimate, 40-seat Theatre at the Whaley House, San Diego's first commercial stage in 1868.

Tickets are $25 and may be purchased online HERE or at the Whaley House Museum Shop in the historic Verna House, which is next to the Whaley House at 2476 San Diego Avenue in Old Town San Diego.
