Let SOHO guide you through research steps and online or library resources to discover your home's history and the lives of any prominent residents. If you want to pursue local historic designation, we explain the process, offer pointers, and emphasize what's essential for documentation and your application.
We're grateful to the expert assistance of Allen Hazard and Janet O'Dea, long-time, active SOHO volunteers, for generously sharing their knowledge on this complicated subject. These Mission Hills residents have professionally researched and written designation reports for many historic homes in San Diego, including their own, and they led the effort to create Mission Hills' first historic district. Janet and Allen also co-authored the Images of America book on Mission Hills (2015), which is available in SOHO's Museum Shops.
