FREE Disaster Planning Workshops to Protect Cultural Collections

Prevent this from happening to you and your collection. Courtesy KFMB.

The recent bout of fires compelled the County of San Diego to offer and urge wide participation in a three-part Emergency Preparedness Workshop for cultural collections. This program, which begins March 16, is free to anyone in the county who plays a role with a historical archive or collection, and it focuses on disaster prevention, preparedness, response, and recovery.

Learn how to develop site-specific disaster response plans for an emergency or disaster that threatens a cultural collection. The final training day will involve testing these response plans, and identifying the locations of these collections for county officials, and extra information that could help an emergency response team to save them (such as a map showing an archives's exact location in a building).
